Episode 3 starts with Tate leaving his tent at camp in the early morning. He joins John who shushes him while beckoning him over. They watch an elk who’s leading a wolf away from her baby. They listen as the mama draws the wolf’s attention. John explains that the baby elk don’t give off a scent, and the wolf won’t find it as long as the baby doesn’t make a run for it. John wants to help the baby survive and he tells Tate the way to help is for them to “mark” the territory.
Jamie plays cover-up and damage control with Hendon. Governor Perry hears a $6 billion pitch for a development right on the Yellowstone ranch. Later she makes some political maneuvers. Jimmy competes in a rodeo competition.
